Material that is considered of low value or waste due to existing commodity market prices may become valuable if price conditions change or new recovery techniques are to be implemented. Assessing the grade of the material in dump sites can be possible with the reconstruction of the original block model. Using information from 3D mine planning and modeling software and integrating it with a data warehouse that contains historical records of operations, the blocks of dumped material can be identified and reallocated to their original position in the block model. Tonnages and grades can be recalculated. New production plans for mineral processing can be made based on these recovered blocks and their current locations.
