Many contemporary mines have invested in information-centric mobile equipment technology that, when integrated, would enable the transformation of frontline tactical management. Meanwhile, a real-time monitoring and analysis infrastructure must be established delivering the right information in the right format using the most appropriate interface while remaining flexible to the frequent changes demanded by control room personnel. Higher-level decisions should be made in a control room, whereas on-the ground decisions and safety observations should be aided by PDAs. These Real Time Business Intelligence Screens describes the process mapping activities, information infrastructure, and early implementation phases of a reengineered centralized tactical mine management system in a control room and using mobile computing. It could be extended to different mining operations like hard rock in the continuous process improvement through technologies.
